SOG & SCROG

Difference between SOG and SCROG

Sea of GreenThe key difference between SOG (Sea of Green) and SCROG (Screen of Green) is that SOG uses a lot of small plants crammed together and SCROG users fewer plants with more space between them. Sea of Green is generally thought to be one of the best indoor growing methods, due to the short amount of time it takes for them to complete a full cycle. Screen of Green is better for those who want to use less plants in order to maximise the growing area. This main difference between SOG (Sea of Green) and SCROG (Screen of Green) is normally decided by a grower based on the space they have available and the time they want to take growing their plants. Most growers start off with a SOG growing technique and then progress into a SCROG after several cycles of the same plant.

Sea of Green and Screen of Green

Screen of GreenSea of Green growing involves placing a lot of plants under a light and giving them just a short amount of time in the vegetative stage. An individual plant may not produce a big yield, but with the number of plants being used there tends to be a good harvest at the end. The difference between sea of green and screen of green when it comes to yield is that SCROG plants will tend to produce a lot of bud per plant. They are left longer in the vegetative stage before being weaved through a screen, which is why this method is called Screen of Green. Both methods work equally well in terms of how much you can harvest, however it is down to the individual grower as to which works best for them. Once you've decided which method you want to use ensure you have researched and purchased the right equipment, by comparing offerings from different manufacturers and seedbanks.
